Jacksonville, FL: Register Roofing & Sheet Metal Inc. is proud to announce that they are the recipients of the Spotlight Trophy for the Advancement of Roofing (S.T.A.R.), an honor awarded annually by the Florida Roofing and Sheet Metal Contractors Association, Inc. The award highlights its members’ outstanding performance on unique and complex commercial roofing projects. This year’s S.T.A.R. award highlighted Register Roofing & Sheet Metal Inc.’s contribution to the PGA Tour Headquarters project (also known as the Global Home of the PGA Tour).
In partnership with Clark Construction Group, Register Roofing & Sheet Metal Inc. designed a thermoplastic polyolefin (TPO) flat roof system which protects against Florida's harsh climate while accommodating many design penetrations. This success led to around 30% in cost savings for PGA. Lincoln Register, President of Register Roofing & Sheet Metal Inc., explained the project’s innovative design and process.
“This building incorporated an abnormally high number of roof areas, a huge rooftop solar farm, and unique architectural sheet metal wall panels and metal flashings. Most folks would probably not be impressed with the elements here, but to a commercial roofing contractor who installs 100-plus roofs each year, this project got our blood boiling with excitement.”
During the commercial roof installation, Register Roofing & Sheet Metal Inc. worked to actively maintain quality control; an aspect they pride themselves on. Their full-time Quality Control Manager performed weekly on-site inspections and kept a detailed record of workmanship, eliminating any risk of long-term liabilities. Additionally, the company’s manufacturing partner, Firestone Building Products, conducted monthly quality inspections of the project and its materials. Through strong communication, the project was an excellent success for Register Roofing & Sheet Metal Inc., its partners, and the PGA.
